Escrow & Settlement
Money moves only when the iron does.
BUYSELLMARKET holds funds in escrow, protects deposits, and covers the deal through freight, rigging, title transfer, and commissioning—so both sides transact eight-figure equipment securely.
How Settlement Works
Protection built into every deal
The settlement framework is part of every escrow-backed transaction, at no extra cost.
Escrow & Deposits
Purchase and lease funds are held in escrow through a PCI-compliant processor and released only on acceptance. Deposit-backed offers are held, not charged, and applied or refunded on outcome.
Verified Counterparties
Both sides complete identity and operating-entity verification before they can transact or list—accountability on every deal.
Umpire Resolution
If inspection or commissioning surfaces a discrepancy, a neutral umpire reviews the evidence and issues a binding determination—refund, deposit adjustment, or release.
Deposit Protection
How escrow deposits move
Stage | What Happens |
|---|---|
Offer | A refundable deposit is authorized and held in escrow, not charged. |
Accepted | The asset is reserved off-market and funds are held while inspection and freight are arranged. |
Commissioned to Spec | On acceptance, the deposit applies to settlement and escrow releases to the seller. |
Discrepancy | Escrow holds, the dispute opens, and the umpire process determines the outcome. |
PowerProtect Coverage
What PowerProtect covers, and what it doesn’t
Covered by PowerProtect
Assets not matching stated nameplate ratings or condition grade at inspection
Damage in freight or rigging while the asset is in transit under the deal
Loss or theft of the asset in custody during a lease (with police report)
Missing controls, spares, or documentation stated in the listing
Late lease returns, covered by the deposit or late fees
Not covered
Operation outside nameplate ratings or intentional damage
Normal wear and tear within the agreed duty cycle
Loss exceeding the deposit amount (may require separate recovery)
Transactions settled outside the platform escrow
Pre-existing damage or faults not documented before load-out
Freight, Rigging & Title
From load-out to title transfer
Responsibility for freight, rigging, and title is set in the listing and confirmed in-platform before an offer is accepted. Escrow holds until delivery and acceptance are confirmed.
Inspection & Commissioning
Acceptance releases the funds
Escrow releases only after inspection and commissioning acceptance. If a unit does not match its nameplate, raise a dispute before releasing funds.
01
Inspect at Handoff
Run a qualified inspection and check nameplate ratings, operating hours, and condition against the listing.
02
Commission to Spec
Witness or document commissioning where feasible. Both parties sign off on the condition and nameplate checklist.
03
Accept & Release
On acceptance, escrow releases to the seller. If a discrepancy remains, the umpire process resolves it for both sides.
Filing a Claim
Filing a PowerProtect claim
If you need to file a claim for a discrepancy, damage, or loss:
01
Document Everything
Capture clear photos and video of the discrepancy, damage, or nameplate mismatch.
02
Contact the Counterparty
Try to resolve directly first through in-platform messaging.
03
File a Dispute
Go to Dashboard → Transactions → select the deal → File Dispute.
04
Submit Evidence
Upload inspection reports, commissioning data, load-out photos, messages, and receipts.
05
Await Resolution
The umpire reviews all evidence and issues a binding determination, typically within 48 hours.
Important: raise a dispute before releasing escrow, and file within 48 hours of delivery or commissioning.
